Attendance Policy:
Attendance is essential to the success of each season. Due to the nature of the sport, a practice missed by one cheerleader has a significant impact on the squad, particularly on that cheerleader's stunt group, who are unable to stunt without every member present. It also takes away from others when a coach has to step out during practice and teach what was missed. Cheerleading is a unique sport in which each athlete's safety is dependent upon teamwork, trust and responsibility of the whole squad.
For the reasons listed above, attendance at all practices is mandatory.
Any absences must be excused by the head coach BEFORE practice is missed. In the case of illness, please contact your coach to discuss if your daughter is well enough to attend practice, sit and observe. Illnesses that include fever or vomiting would require missing practice.
We understand things may come up throughout the season. For that reason, each cheerleader is allowed three (3) unexcused absences without consequence. If a cheerleader exceeds three unexcused absences, the consequences are as follows:
After the 4th unexcused absence - A conference between cheerleader and coach will be held. The cheerleader will be required to attend the next game in full uniform but will not participate in any cheer activities for the entire game.
After the 5th unexcused absence - A conference between parents and coach will be held. The cheerleader will be required to attend the next game in full uniform but will not participate in any cheer activities for the entire game.
After the 6th unexcused absence - A conference between parents, coach and program coordinator(s) will be held to discuss a resolution. WYFC reserves the right to remove any child from our cheerleading program if the participant has missed six (6) or more practices.
